About the academy:
Who we are: We are an accredited, private, and international Visual Arts Academy located in the heart of Italy. We were founded in 2009 and strive to preserve an artistic tradition passed down to us from the Renaissance Masters. We expand on that tradition with innovative programmes that emphasise the development of practical skills and imbue our students with significant advantages in a 21st century job market.
What we do: We train artists from all over the world through our unique methodology of applied knowledge. Our students become professional artists that can paint and draw both from models and from imagination. After completing their curriculum, our students return home armed with knowledge, technique, new perspectives on their world, and a portfolio that is ready for presentation to potential employers or clients.

History of the academic method
The Florence Classical Arts Academy was founded in 2009 by its Director Nadezhda Molugova and a select group of accomplished academicians. Our teaching methods and curriculum are cutting edge, while also representing an unbroken chain of artistic tradition stretching back over 300 years. The Academy is located in the idyllic Italian city of Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance and an inspiration to untold generations of artists.
The story of our teaching method begins over 300 years ago when, in an effort to modernise Russian society, the Imperial Court began sending Russia’s most talented young artists to Italy and France to learn from the masters of the day. In addition to sending students abroad, the world’s most renowned masters were also welcomed into Russia where they taught, inspired, and created masterpieces that still survive today. The legacy of this historic cultural interaction is particularly evident when touring the city of St. Petersburg, which was founded during the same period and remains Russia’s cultural capital. Fortunately, the fruits of this interaction were not ephemeral, and instead the masters of Western Europe and the Russian artists they taught laid the foundations for new, Russian schools of art. With the passage of time, this artistic tradition was developed and built upon by great artists such as Repin, Surikov, Serov, Levitan, Vasnetsov and Kuindzhi.
The Russian schools flourished and continued to pass down their tradition from generation to generation, even as cultural exchange between Russia and the West slowed to a near halt for much of the 20th century. At the same time, in Western Europe, a plethora of emergent artistic movements gained extraordinary popularity. As a result, much of the classical tradition was lost or superseded by new methods as young artists were drawn to new artistic movements.
In a sense, both the West’s own technical knowledge, and its knowledge of the underlying philosophies of classical art were preserved for posterity by the Russian schools. This unique tradition of excellence is visible in our students’ work and has been formally recognised in our academic accreditation by the Region of Tuscany. We are restoring our knowledge and techniques to the world in a way that creates synergy with modern life and opportunity for our students.
Our faculty is comprised of professors that graduated from top world academies and are themselves highly skilled artists. Our students are being nourished and taught in a friendly and supportive environment, while still working diligently to realise their full potential as artists. We bring our rich tradition of classical art to life in ways that remain relevant to the modern world and empower students in their careers as artists.
“From Shadow to Light: Women's Routes”
Natasa Govedarou, visual artist, curator and owner of Govedarou Art Gallery, is co-organizing with the Women's Empowerment and Support Center IASIS/HYPATIA a group exhibition to strengthen the structure in Thessaloniki at the gallery space at G. Papandreou 5. The title of this thematic exhibition is “From Shadow to Light: Women's Journeys” and will run from March 12 to 30, 2026. The opening will take place on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 6:30 PM. On the occasion of the celebration of International Women's Day, a group of artists presents a collective exploration of female existence and creation. Among the works of the visual artists, there will also be creations by women-beneficiaries, who participate in the art workshops, which Hypatia provides free of charge.
The IASIS/HYPATIA Women's Support and Empowerment Center, founded on the initiative of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, in collaboration with the Urban Non-Profit Company AmKE IASIS, operates in a property owned by the Municipality at 24 P. Syndika Street, and is a municipal structure, under the Deputy Mayor's Office for Social Policy. Hypatia provides free psychosocial support services, individually and in groups, with the aim of empowering women on a personal, social and professional level, taking into account all the factors that can affect their daily lives. It is addressed to all women regardless of age, social class or educational level, belonging to both the general population and vulnerable social groups and provides psychosocial support, legal and employment counseling.
A few words from the curator of the exhibition Natasa Govedarou about the exhibition “From Shadow to Light: Women’s Routes”:
The exhibition entitled “From Shadow to Light” is a visual narrative of the transition: from doubt to affirmation, from silence to expression, from invisibility to visibility. Each work constitutes a point on the map of Women’s Journeys, capturing the struggle, introspection, but also the shared understanding required for equality. Through the use of color, light and composition, the artists highlight resilience and sensitivity, offering multiple perspectives on the theme of the feminine. They invite the viewer to observe how the shadow of yesterday is transformed into the bright light of today, illuminating the present and envisioning a future of equality and creative freedom. It is a celebration of art and women, with the participation of everyone, which proves that the promotion of female power concerns and inspires the entire society.

Govedarou Art Gallery presents at its space at Georgiou Papandreou 5 (formerly Antheon), the art exhibition entitled: “MINI SOLOS Vol.3”, curated by the artist and owner of the gallery, Natasa Govedarou. The opening of the exhibition will take place on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 6:30 PM and will last until March 2.
The theme of this exhibition is free and only 12 artists will participate with their works. These are essentially small solo exhibitions where artists will be able to show their technique with one or more themes in a beautiful presentation.

Natasa Govedarou, artist, curator and owner of Govedarou Art Gallery, is organizing the solo exhibition of German artist Nana Winter-Georgiadou at the gallery space at G. Papandreou 5. Quo Vadis / Where are you going? is the title of the thirteenth solo exhibition of artist Nana Winter-Georgiadou. A title that poses a philosophical question for everyone and for each of us individually and that approaches existential problems with a unique perspective, as with Nana Winter's abstract painting, everyone can see through her paintings their own personal path in life now and in the future. A path that can change over time from personal experiences and make life sometimes optimistic and sometimes seem dark and difficult. A chaotic environment of deconstruction that can determine the mental mood or state of each viewer of her works and some, perhaps, through this chaos, subconsciously find a meaning and a path.
A few words about the exhibition from Natasa Govedarou:
With her current exhibition at Govedarou Art Gallery, Nana Winter-Georgiadou introduces us to her own world of Deconstruction. A deconstruction that occurs gradually in the main subject that has been characteristic of her painting for many years, the Bird. The bird seems to slowly disappear, to fade from the environment and a deconstruction occurs in it. This deconstruction has a geometric character and at the same time very abstract. The bird becomes a black geometric shape, always indeterminate and mutable, which in the process continues to deconstruct without having a stable pattern and seems almost chaotic. This continued deconstruction seems to go to another dimension where pale colors prevail in the background and there seems to be an enlargement and focus on the black geometric shape of the deconstructed bird, which, however, is transformed and broken up into various colored geometric shapes. The sizes of her paintings range from medium to very large while oil, most often diluted, is the permanent material that the painter handles with skill. The transition to abstraction had already taken place since the previous period.

Natasa Govedarou, visual artist, curator and owner of Govedarou Art Gallery, is co-organizing this year with the Thessaloniki Girls' Orphanage "MELISSA", the group exhibition 6th ArtExpo:"Opportunity4all" at the gallery space at G. Papandreou 5. The ArtExpo:"Opportunity4all" exhibitions, which always have a charitable nature, have now become established in the gallery's annual exhibition program, which began almost from the beginning of its establishment and has helped through Art Foundations and Organizations such as The Smile of the Child, The Children's Village in Filyro, The Asylum of the Child, SOTI, ELEPAP. This year will be the sixth year of the exhibition that will last the holiday season from December 9, 2025 to January 2, 2026 and part of the proceeds from sales will be donated to support the Thessaloniki Girls' Orphanage "MELISSA".
"MELISSA" is a Legal Entity of Private Law that was founded in 1921 by decision of the Court of First Instance of Thessaloniki. It began its operation as a Home for the Care and Welfare of Orphans and Destitute Children. It is supervised by the Social Welfare Directorate of the Municipality of Thessaloniki and is subsidized by a small percentage by the Ministry of Health & Social Solidarity through the Region of Central Macedonia. Today, the MELISSA Foundation hosts girls aged 13 to 18, who are removed from an inappropriate family environment by a prosecutor's order and reside with a court decision, which usually assigns custody to it. After reaching adulthood and leaving the institution, the girls are supported by the Association in semi-autonomous living structures.
