Govedarou Art Gallery organizes the solo exhibition of the artist Maria Zisi entitled "Aspects of Woman and Water". Art historian Maria Kyrgiafini writes about the works of Maria Zisi: Pastel-colored oils and escape from the two-dimensional form of the painting become the means by which the artist Maria Zisi bridges art with the experiences of the modern woman. It is essentially a technical escape that functions as a transition from painting to canvas to miniature sculpture.

The female existence in transition, the life of a woman of all ages in the daily life, the motherhood and the inner, timeless reality are the artistic references of the artist in the collection of Aspects of woman and water works. Fragments of a reality, women flowing through time, past, and now. Flowing women like water, which is a field of concern for women as an archetype of every regeneration and transformation. Water has been there since the beginning of human life, giving birth and regeneration, giving life and releasing it. In Bathtubs the water becomes a mirror-passage, a showdown only by itself.

In that private bathroom, the goal is to isolate the emotion, with the water sometimes covering and sometimes interpreting the small sculptures of lasting companionship.

Irantzu Lekue works social art, conceptual art, activism and art accessible through artistic installations, video art, painting and sculpture. She has won the First Prize Videotalentos of the Santander Foundation, the First Prize photographic memories of the Canal Foundation or the Welcome Donostia 2016, among others.

She has studied Bachelor of Fine Arts from the UPV / EHU, at the University of Granada, the University of the Laguna de Tenerife and the Accademia di Belle Arti di Perugia (Italy). Postgraduate in photography at the Master Photoespaña: Theories and artistic projects at the European University of Madrid and in cinema, with an International Bachelor in Creative Media Production, at the School of Communication, Image and Sound (CEV) of Madrid and the University of Essex (England).

Her works are characterized by their social awareness work. Through various techniques, she has produced works that analyze the condition of women, social injustices, climate change, life and death. During the last years she has influenced the demand and accessibility through art. In her artistic practice she has gone through different stages that have marked her work. It began with introspective works that reflected different stages such as cancer disease, identity crises, loneliness, bullying, death or sexual abuse.

Subsequently, her works have varied towards an increasingly social theme such as gender, racism, historical memory or socio-economic injustices, using art as a tool to activate thoughts around hegemonic and unfair situations in different social environments; all closely linked to social art. Her artistic installation works invite spectators to be part of them and to be able to interact with them, to promote participation, reflection and self-criticism. That is why the artist performs actions in the public space in order to provoke some kind of reaction in the public making the viewer a participant or part of her work. Her artistic practice has also led her to be denounced before the courts as was the case with the artistic occupation of the Krea Building in Vitoria-Gasteiz.

Her artistic installations are characterized by being composed of repetitions of everyday objects that are distributed through space, decontextualizing the object, resignifying it and allowing an infinity of readings. Irantzu Lekue was in charge of closing the Energy Waves program of the European Cultural Capital DSS2016 with the urban art installation “Aztarnak”. She made a huge fingerprint consisting of 10,000 glass bottles. Each bottle contained a message from citizens who wanted to participate in the work with desires for culture and art.

Transformative muralism

The Basque artist Irantzu Lekue and her team also perform murals on a large scale and also orders for companies or private homes, collaborative, participatory murals or artistic commissions to take art wherever it is necessary. Transformative muralism because it improves, brings art to the street and bets on urban rehabilitation from society. She wants to improve environments outside but also inside through the dynamics of citizen participation. Her last project has been done in Barcelona.

The fantastic world of the famous Greek painter Spiros Gelekas from the island of Corfu with his super-realistic color palette meets, for the first time in Greece, the fantastic "universe" of the great J.R.R. Tolkien, writer of Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and Silmarilion. Spiros adores the world of fantasy, thus the world of Salvador Dali, Roger Dean and J.R.R. Tolkien. Tolkien's world are the subject of his painting from 2016 and on. The year 2018 brought him the worldwide recognition he needed and his works were exhibited next to Salvador's Dali and Picasso in Asia. He entered in the list of the best 100 painters in the international competition "The Global Art Awards", and was selected to be included in the encyclopedia of "Global Art freaks" in 2019.

The exhibition is deticated to J.R.R. Tolkien and the Middle Earth and will be exhibited on September in Thessaloniki at Govedarou Art Gallery and on October in Athens at the festival ofFantastiCon.

Under the auspices of The Greek Tolkien Society – The Prancing Pony.

The exhibition will accompany with their music Lady Delwynne and George Palousis

Book presentation on 23rd of September, at 19.00 "Trees and Forests from Middle Earth" by Evlabia Tsireli
